Submissions

BLISS is pleased to receive your submission. Please be sure to review the What We Are Looking For page to identify the range of our interests.

E-mail Submissions:

Your submission should include a detailed query letter, contact information (including phone number) and you can feel free to attach one chapter and/or a synopsis in the body of the message (unrequested attachments will not be opened). You will receive a response to verify that your query was received.

If we need more information or we would like to request sample chapters or the full manuscript or proposal, we will do so via e-mail.  Requested material may be sent as an attachment. One Word document, not several documents, is strongly preferred.

Though we will let you know our decision on requested material (average response time is 6-8 weeks, sometimes sooner), we may not be able to respond to every query letter due to volume.

Standard Mail/Express Mail:

Please be aware that the BLISS Acquisitions Team often exchanges manuscripts and editorial opinions via e-mail, so sending standard mail will also slow down our process with your material. E-mail queries are strongly preferred, but standard mail queries will be accepted.

Submission Checklist:

Include all requested documents and information
Include pertinent platform information (what qualifies you to write your book) in the query letter
Remember one Word document via e-mail is the preferred format for requested material (no PDF files)
Make sure your manuscript or proposal has each page numbered (also, your contact info should appear on the title page)
Proof all of your materials. The cleaner the presentation, the better
Remember you only need one agent. Keep your spirits up

Frequently Asked Questions:

Though we do represent book-to-film projects in conjunction with our film co-agents, we do not represent screenplays independently.
Yes, we do accept picture book submissions (though we only accept a select number).

Multiple Submissions inside the Agency:

There is no need to submit your query to more than one team member. Please submit ONE general query or specify the agent you would like to review your work. The Submissions Coordinator will get your query to the appropriate agent based upon agent interest.
